Externship at Adolescent and Family
Therapy Program (AFT) within the Bergen
County Department of Human Services.
The
position is an “assessment rich” opportunity. We have a diversity of
adolescent cases that have a multitude
of presenting problems. The externs this year generally carried two
assessment cases throughout the year, getting a new case whenever they
finished one. Their evaluations are important to treatment planning and
medication management. In one case the assessment
of the client helped him qualify for benefits with DDD. Externs may
have the potential to do some psychotherapy and other therapeutic
activities.
Because AFT is an outpatient psychiatric program, we do need someone who is trained on the Rorschach and other
projectives.
